Chaipattana Foundation

The Chaipattana Foundation was established by His Majesty King Bhumibol Adulyadej of Thailand. Chaipattana means the victory of development. H.M. the King is the Honorary President and Her Royal Highness Princess Sirindhorn is the Chairperson of this Foundation. Its objective is to support the people in the development programs, mainly in agriculture and environments. It has also been assisting victims of natural disasters by providing needs in life, such as houses, equipment to earn their living, etc. This has resulted in development victory which brings peace, progress and well-being to the people leading to the stability of the nation.

In 1996, Zonta International Club of Thailand donated 50,000,000 baht to the Chaipattana Foundation from their first "Maharaj Diamond" sale as a tribute to H.M. the King during the celebration of the 50th Anniversary of His Majesty's Accession to the Throne.

This year, Zonta International Club of Thailand will hold a special sale of SARCAR luxury timepieces which incorporate the "Maharaj Diamond" in their rotating diamond series to raise funds to the Chaipattana Foundation in celebrating His Majesty's 60th Anniversary Accession to the Throne and His Majesty's 80th Birthday which is on December 5th 2007.

The Chaipattana Foundation is a royally-initiated charity body that supports countrywide development projects not initiated by the Government of Thailand. The Foundation coordinated with both the government sector and civil society in Thailand without any political involvement to promote the development of social and economic well-being activities which are beneficial to the Kingdom.

Some well-known activities of the Chaipattana Foundation include the Chaipattana Aerator commissioned by His Majesty the King to improve the polluted conditions of waterways after witnessing the poor living conditions of the communities living along polluted rivers and the poor health conditions caused by this pollution. In addition, some of Chaipattana's projects have involved improving flooding conditions in various parts of the country and finding new methods of relieving water scarcity.

The Chaipattana Foundation is committed to help the Thai people to cope well in a fast-changing world and is proud to play an integral role in Thailand in alleviating the sufferings of the poorer Thai community and improving their livelihood.
